Do joiners usually have specific specialisms?
I posted a couple of small jobs I need doing on a website which allows tradespeople to contact you for quotes. It has worked for me in the past (although that was for an electircian). However, this time I haven't received any quotes and am not sure why. I want a floorboard replacing and a door fitting (including supply of all materials). Once I selected that I needed a joiner, the site made me choose a specific specialism (so I went for 'fitting internal doors') so I'm not sure if the fact that I have asked for two jobs in different specialisms has stopped people giving me quote. I thought it would be better to get both jobs done by one person as it is easier for me and I thought that would make it slightly more worth their while to have two small jobs at the same location rather than just one. Would the two different types of work put joiners off quoting - or is it more likely that the jobs are still too small for them to bother with? What is the likely cost (including materials) for these jobs? If you are a joiner, what influences you to accept a job or be prepared to give a quote and is there anything I can do to make these jobs appear more attractive - other than deciding to have the every door/floorboard in the place re-fitted?
